Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum is the youngest and, at the same time, the largest historical museum of the country's technical history. It was established in 2003, and its opening crowned the major date – 100th anniversary of world aviation. Museum is located at the territory of the former Educational Air Base of KIIGA (now NAU), and aircrafts assigned to Base became the core of its collection. However, started with only 30 machines, today SAM owns the exposition of more than 80 aircraft and helicopters.
Ukraine State Aviation Museum is the largest technical museum in Ukraine. It is located next to Zhuliany Airport on the territory of the former aviation training center. The museum is named after legendary Ukrainian aircraft designer Oleg Antonov. There are 70 aircrafts, helicopters and drones, weapons and aviation engines in the open air here. You can even enter to the salons of some aircrafts.
- The museum opening happened on the same day of 100th anniversary of aviation and 80th of the World War II.
- There is the world largest helicopter Mi-26 and a movie star – the aircraft from famous film “Only Old Men Are Going To Battle.”
- According to the number of researched and isolated aircrafts, it is in the top 6 in the world and the second on the post-Soviet territory museums.
